Allie Crummy Releasing 'How Long' Single Ahead of New Album 'I Have Peace'

Feb 19 2020

Allie Crummy, an independent singer/songwriter based in Des Moines, Iowa, releases her second single, 'How Long', on March 6, 2020. The song will be the first of five singles Allie is releasing this Spring, leading up to the release of a new album, entitled 'I Have Peace', on Good Friday (April 10, 2020). The new single follows Allie's debut single, 'I Have Peace', which was released last year, has reached over 27,000 streams on Spotify to date.

"My musical taste includes a wide variety of genres, but typically reflects blues and folk inspiration", explains Allie. "This song has a bit of a Mumford & Sons vibe, featuring three part harmonies, banjo, mandolin, and accordion. It was birthed out of the frustration I feel when I read the news and am overwhelmed by all the violence, the vitriol we humans spew on each other, and the hatred that is so commonplace. It weighs heavily on my heart, and like Habakkuk, I find myself asking the Lord, “How long until You save?”. The seriousness of the lyrics are juxtaposed with a fun anthem-like instrumentation, which work together to communicate: the world is dark and crazy, but with God, we can always hold onto hope!"

Allie Crummy is a deep thinker who is well versed in and routinely inspired by Scripture. Her songs reflect the tension between what she believes to be true about God, contrasted with what she sees happening in the world around her, delivered through honest lyrics and vocals that are brimming with emotion. She is influenced by a variety of artists and genres - from blues to bluegrass to classical - but in all of her writing, she loves to include three part harmonies, melodies that are fun to sing, and interesting chord progressions.
