S.O. Unveils Video For New Single 'I See You'

Sep 20 2016

Lamp Mode artist S.O. has released a video for his new single 'I See You' (see below). Filmed in London - where the Nigerian-born emcee spent his teenage and young adult years - the scene for the video is set at a social event in someone’s home. At the social gathering, it becomes apparent that a man and woman at the party are checking each other out.

“On the surface, you see people at a party scene and what seems to be two innocent people looking at one another, but what is really happening a man correctly perceiving a woman,” S.O. said. “Hip-hop tends to view women as things that they can objectify and abuse, but the Bible teaches us that women as well as men are made in the image of God. The video’s overarching theme is about how we see women.”

The point gets driven home further later in the video as the party shifts outside as the party-goers try their hands at creating artwork.

“This simply says that both men and women at times perceive incorrectly,” S.O. said. “At the end, the lead male reveals his drawing of the lead female, and it’s his drawing that she is drawn to. It is different, and full of life. It’s a metaphor for how we men ought to perceive and appreciate the women in our lives. They are made in the image of God - vibrant and full of life - and we ought to honor them.”

The song itself is an upbeat summer jam dedicated to all of the women following Christ. I See You is S.O.’s first release since So It Ends on Oct. 15. That project, S.O.’s third full-length release on Lamp Mode, reached No. 24 on Billboard Christian Album charts, No. 7 on Billboard Heatseeekers charts and No. 3 on UK Official Christian charts.

Continuing to push himself as an artist, S.O. experiments with the increasingly popular Afrobeat genre of music on I See You. The single was produced by GP.

The song is one of two tracks released by S.O. this summer. Parker’s Verse, a song dedicated to a person S.O. met while traveling in Hawaii, is available on SoundCloud. I See You is available where music is sold digitally.
