Rising Christian pop artist Tiffany Parker has released her latest single, 'Try'. Louder Than The Music asked Tiffany all about her music and the inspiration behind it, and her plans to release a new album.

For those who haven't heard of you before, can you tell us a bit about yourself and how you got involved in making music?
I am a Recording Artist, Songwriter, Author Spoken Word Artist and Worship Leader. I wear a lot of hats but my mission in all that I do is to use music, creativity and the power of testimony as a catalyst of hope in peoples lives. I first got involved in music as a youth worship leader and then went on to write and record my own music. I wrote songs for TV/Film projects for many years as well before I got very sick with chronic illness and was unable to work for a series of years. I learned the power of worship and grew deeply in my walk with God and knowledge of the Word throughout the severe illnesses when I was homebound and hospitalized with just me and Jesus. I have experienced Jesus’ supernatural healing in my life against all odds and doctors diagnosis, so now my passion is to share those truths and testimonies so others can find strength, hope and freedom in their own lives.
Tell us about your new single 'Try' and what the inspiration behind it was?
“Try” gives a glimpse into some of the battles I have had to overcome as a result of severe chronic illness. This song encompasses those emotions. The grave calling my name and threatening to consume me completely. But Jesus intervened and my life looks lifetimes different now. The hope in me has been supernaturally restored. I have had many people ask throughout my journey what keeps me going, what keeps me getting up in the morning when life can be so challenging and painful. My answer for everything is Jesus. My relationship with Him and the hope that comes from His Spirit in me is what keeps me getting up. It is the reason I keep trying. The reason I press on. This is the place that “Try” was created from.
Do you have any plans to release more music in the near future?
Definitely! I am currently writing and recording my next album and plan to release the next single later this year.
What message would you like people to take from your music?
The message I hope people take from my music is that there is a God-given plan and purpose for each and every life. I want them to know there is always hope, no matter how bleak a circumstance may be or how bleak it may feel. The message of hope, healing and freedom that comes from knowing Jesus is my greatest aim. I truly want people to find breakthrough and freedom in their lives and after walking through intense hardship of many kinds in my life, I have found that nothing outside of Jesus can satisfy or bring that true freedom.
How would you describe your style of music and what are your influences?
My music is a blend of Pop style melodies, vulnerable lyrics of Pop/Soul and the heart of modern Worship. I have often been compared to Lauren Daigle or Tori Kelly. My influences range across most genres. I grew up listening to vocal powerhouses like Christina Aguilera and soul singers like Etta James and BB King. I also loved Darlene Zschech as a young girl starting out in worship leading. In recent years I have loved artists that really tap into the art of songwriting. Taylor Swift is someone I really respect as a writer. Tori Kelly and JP Cooper are a couple other artists that I have really enjoyed.
Although, my most impactful influences have been worship artists and worship leaders. That is the strongest influence in my life. Anyone who can help bring me into the presence of God is someone I not only respect but am incredibly grateful for.
If you could work with any songwriter, who would it be and why?
This changes often as I grow but at this point in my life I would love to work with Brandon Lake or Lindy Cofer. They have such a gift for bringing the presence of God into everything they write. You can feel the passion in what they create and they both are brilliant writers, artists and worship leaders.
How would you define success in your career as an artist?
If people’s lives are changed or transformed by Jesus as a result of any aspect of what I create, I couldn’t ask for anything more. Success to me has changed over the years. It doesn’t look like charting, sales, sold out tours or anything that I once saw as the goal or value of what I did. If people that were in bondage or disease or broken or addicted see that they can be free and begin to hope again as a result of what I share and do, that is success. We don’t just need more singers and artists looking to get there big break. People need hope. People need Jesus. People need freedom and security. They need to see who they really are and accomplish the reason they are alive in the world today. And success to me is helping to point them towards that.
What is your favorite album of all time?
That is such a difficult question. I haven’t listened to full albums much in recent years but growing up my favorite albums were soulful. One of the best albums of all time I think is “The Best of ETTA JAMES: The Millenium Collection”. I love these songs to this day. I also loved the vocals and musical style of Christina Aguilera’s Stripped album. Much of it musically was a piece of art.
Some of my favorites now are You Hold It All Together by Maverick City Music + UPPERROOM and Grave Into Gardens (Live) by Elevation Worship.
You're stuck on an island, it's hot, you only have enough battery life left to listen to one song on your phone. What track is it?
This answer probably changes every week but right now it’d be “Fear is Not My Future” by Brandon Lake and Chandler Moore.
What does the next year hold for you?
This next year I am writing and recording my next album and will be writing and filming many spoken word poetry films. Lots of worship leading and article writing for my website TiffanyParker.com. This next year will hopefully hold a lot of creating in many ways, growing deeper with Jesus and raising my sweet 5 year old son.
