 Filipino-British three-piece pop punk band Firefalldown will release their debut album 'These Wounds' in May. But for a quick taster they are about to release the title track as a single. The band performed at the UK's Greenbelt Festival in 2011 and have been bringing their own brand of melodic funkcore to the UK underground scene, combining elements of skate punk, motown, and pop punk through their energetic live shows.  

I feel like I have let you down a little as this is the first time I have had the opportunity to review this interesting band. The band say of their impending album release, "After a good four years hard work we're finally a stone's throw away from this momentous occasion". This band for me have been flying below the radar for four years, but now they are here to show the world how they like to play their music. And let me tell you from listening to this first single, they are one of those no holds bands, it's guitars to eleven.   

The song bursts into life with a punk rock drum beat and a fantastic riff. The verses see the dynamic and strong bass and drum section lead the way, with some great vocals and intriguing lyrics. The band sing "This thing won't let me go... why won't you let me." It's not until the chorus that we hear the band in full swing, with this lo-fi indie rock tune turned into an anthem with a big catchy chorus.

But for me the song takes a more interesting twist in the second verse. With more punch and power I do love the guitar work in this one. For me even though the guitar solo isn't my favorite part of the song, you soon get a feeling this is a band that has a purpose and meaning in their songs. They are a no holds bar rock and roll band, who know how to play their instruments. And isn't that the kind of band we are missing at the moment?

In this one song, the band seem to jump between a few different styles. At times there is a rock and roll sound then a bit of funk rock, then some 70's rock. Then the next moment there seems to be a bit of punk and then metal. Is this a band who are confused with what their style and sound is? No. This is a band who know they love to rock out and they do it very very well. So here is to the future and the new album. I can't wait to hear much more.
