Electronic Trio VERSES Break New Ground With New Song 'Neighbour'

Apr 02 2019

VERSES release ‘Neighbour’ - the official track for The Salvation Army’s global mission appeal, across Australia. It is bold, inspiring track and cements VERSES as a rising force in the electronic/pop scene.

The Australian electronic outfit was hand-picked by The Salvation Army Australia to write and produce the official track for the annual Australian missions campaign. The 2019 theme centred on, ‘Be the Change’. VERSES are the first electronic outfit to be asked to produce the iconic track.

VERSES core mission is to bring scripture into song. The scripture Mark 12:31 “...Love your neighbour as yourself” is the inspiration for this track.

Lead vocalist Jessica Clayton explains, “Within The Salvation Army (in Australia) this campaign is pivotal. It is a huge honour and opportunity to be chosen to write the soundtrack. This campaign assists the work of people truly living out the campaign theme, ‘Be the Change’. We wanted to build on that, so we set out to create a track that can challenge and inspire anyone who hears it, at anytime.” And it does!

‘Neighbour’ continues to build on lead vocalists Jess and Joel’s signature gifting, sharing the melody they extend an invitation to all of us to join their gospel choir and sing it out, ‘Love your neighbour, like it was your Saviour’.

Songwriter and producer Luke O’Dea has masterfully created a mellower track of catchy synth pop, and it works in perfect accompaniment for the powerful lyrics and stirring melody. The fresh sound of this track is an exciting taste of the new music to come from the talented trio, who are currently working on their first full length album.

‘Neighbour’ will be available on all major streaming platforms.
