Louder Than The Music

I'm not one to turn down a free download, so when iTunes UK in association with Big Church Day Out launched a free six track EP that features artists that appeared at the UK Big Church Day Out festivals this year and last year I knew I had to download it. The EP is only available for a limited time from the Big Church Day Out iTunes Page, so please head over very quickly to get it.

Featured on this sample album are the artists Chris Tomlin, Newsboys, Matt Redman, TobyMac, David Crowder Band and last years Big Church Day Out headliners Hillsong United. Each of these bands offers a track from a previously released album of their own to collate some of the best in Christian Music.



You might be asking why is it such a big thing that these songs are a free download via the biggest digital download site in the world? Well... the UK iTunes store is one of the few not to recognise the Christian music genre, whilst iTunes users in the US, Canada and Australia all have pages dedicated to Christian music. iTunes UK will be closely monitoring the take up of this free EP which could be a significant step closer to seeing Christian music reflected more accurately in the UK.



As a sample album, this is a very good album, it kicks off with the worship music of Hillsong United and their track Search My Heart, a great worship track that asks God to look into our heart and what we are striving for. The album then moves on to Matt Redman's amazing track This Is How We Know a strong song from his We Shall Not Be Shaken album, released a few years back.



The album takes on a more dance/rock stance with ShowStopper by the energetic tobyMac and a remix of the track Miracles from American rockers Newsboys. Both adding a dance edge to the sampler, something a bit different but still great.



The EP ends with the sublime Alleluia, Sing, from this years Big Church Day Out openers David Crowder Band. This album shows a rounded view of Christian music at the moment, some of you might already have some of the tracks from the previously released albums, but don't let that put you off downloading this EP from iTunes. If you were at Big Church Day Out, download this and remember the great day, and also get ready for next year, its gonna be even bigger and better.
