Another great Interview with a great band. Tim Chesire from Superhero has been sat down and given a few questions to answer. We find out about the new album and him not having a ipod.
1. How the Superhero band members all meet?
We all met in Glasgow, all mates already, before the band formed.

1. How the Superhero band members all meet?
We all met in Glasgow, all mates already, before the band formed.
2 Tell us a bit about the new album?
Well, it's called 'The Bicycle Thieves', it's our 4th album, we recorded it in Scotland and mixed it with Sam Gibson in Hereford. It's a collection of songs written in the UK and in America. The songs are mostly about faith, the issues that seem, to me, to be affecting the world and the church. Lyrically, they feel a bit more psalm like than others I have written. I think there is a lot of music from christian bands which is about joy, celebration, victory etc...all good stuff and I think we need it, but this album is more about things that I/we grapple with, looking at church, how it is, how it may need to change, how we approach the post modern challenges, the emerging and emergent movements. I guess reading a lot of N T Wright, Brian McLaren, Bonhoeffer, Bell, Tozer, and comparing that to people like Mark Driscoll and his more aggressive approach. We were still writing when the whole Florida thing was happening and I guess some of the songs are me getting things off my chest about all this stuff. But is is ultimately hopeful and positive about what lies ahead.
3. What was the inspiration behind your new album?
The title track is a tribute to one of my favorite films 'The Bicycle Thief'. Go see it!
4. Whats your song writing process?
I read a lot, get passionate / frustrated / mad / angry / melancholy / disillusioned / enthused / joyous........... That's when I start writing about stuff, just ideas to start with, ramblings, then I go back, start to formulate a structure, then start thinking about the music. Generally that's the way it goes.
5. You have been playing live in America a lot, how is that going
It's going really good. We are blessed to have so many great friends their who are our Big family. It takes time to establish yourself in the US, we are just starting, but it's a whole lot of fun : )
6. Do you find crowds differe from American to British crowds.
Yeah I guess they do. Americans are way more enthusiastic. All we need to do is speak and they cheer! Not so here in the UK!! Both great in their own unique ways.
7. Which do you prefer playing Live or recording albums
Playing live. I'm not a fan of the recording process at all. I love writing, but recording can be tricky! I'm the least tech savvy one in the band.
8. Where is the best gig venue you have played at?
Well, a little club in Spain. Also Flevo festival in Holland. Ice Hockey arena in Alabama. UK would be King Tut's in Glasgow.
9. You have a tour coming up, where you playing?
All over the UK, from Fraserburgh to Cornwall. The tour is throughout June and into July. Check our website and myspace for the gig listings in early March. www.superhero.org.uk
10. Do you enjoying playing the festivals?
Yeah, love em! It's the time we get to see all our buddies from all over the world. It's an amazing thing.
11.Whats on your I pod at the moment?
I don't have an ipod!!
12. Your stuck on an island, its hot, you only have enough battery life left to listen to one song on your mp3. What track is it.

Touring here, US and Europe. Playing the new songs. Preaching the gospel and seeing people find salvation, hope and life through Jesus Christ....yeah baby!
