Dance music isn't my forte, when my friends where going clubbing at the age of 18 & 19 I was going to gigs. I would much rather watch a band perform their greatest hits live, in a small venue, than listen to one guy play other peoples music on vinyl. Saying that, I don't mind a bit of Chemical Brothers, Basement Jaxx, Underworld, Faithless but, overall, I don't fully 'get' dance music. Maybe I'm the worst for it. Saying that, I don't mind a bit of Chemical Brothers, Basement Jaxx, Underworld, Faithless but, overall, I don't fully 'get' dance music. Maybe I'm the worst for it. So when I found out Steve Leach was doing a set at Spring Harvest I had to find out more. The gig was fantastic, so I went to buy the album to see what he had to offer on CD.
Steve Leach mixes great tunes with big well know preachers into his dance music so, while your dancing away to music that would fit into any club in any high street in any major town, you hear the lyrics "God is Love, God is Grace". Amen to that.
The preachers that are sampled are Debs Hunt, Louie Gigilo, Matt Redman, Peter Greig and many more. The music on this album is top quality dance music and as I said earlier wouldn't be amiss in any mainstream club; the only difference is the uplifting words.
I'm glad to see someone pushing the boundaries of Christian Music and showing there are many forms of music that you can worship God to. If you like going out on a Saturday night and love God, this album is for you. My only small issue is with Track One "Free For All". You know at 4:00am on BBC 2 they have nothing to show on TV so they play the Teletext Pages with a background track, "Free For All" sounds very similar to the track that is being played in the background.Overall a wonderful step forward for Christian Dance Music, a wonderful album from a new wave worshiper.
