It's a simple but powerful question. What if we? What if we take a risk? What if we choose to follow our hearts? What if we don't? What if we sit in the quiet and truly listen to God's voice? What if we continue to fill our lives with noisy clutter? What if we look at others through the eyes of Jesus? That's the simple questions that are sort of answered in what I can only describe as a laid back Sunday afternoon sounding album.

Brandon Heath is from Nashville, Tennessee "What if we" is his second studio albums, his first being "Don't Get Comfortable (2006)". He was four-times nominated at the Dove Awards 2008 and won in the "New Artist of the Year" category. The album starts with radio hit "Give Me Your Eyes" which you can see why people rave about this song, with its beautiful lyrics and catchy sound, sadly this is one of the only true highlight of this album. The whole album is very acoustic and second track "Wait and See" sounds like a track by David Gray but with better drum rhythm in the background. If I was placing this album in another "sounds like box" I would have to add "What if we" sounds like a album by Badly Drawn Boy but with vocals that are in tune (which is a good thing). The only other highlight in this album is the track "Sour Eyes" which he has had the help of Jars of Clay, this being one of the best tracks on the album.
The album isn't bad with its observational lyrics and same style acoustic guitar, sadly that style becomes tiresome, which is also proven with the lyrics to the track "London". London, a piano lead song, is musically a beautiful song, yet lyrically he talks about him standing in London taking photos of "Old Big Ben" the lyrical story in the song isn't one I really care about. Sadly this track is too observational and being told about his walk down "Abbey Road" and "buying flowers" isn't really what I was looking for in an album. "What If We" has its highlights and some great points, but after a listen through there wasn't much that drew me back for a second listen.
