I have a friend in America who I have never met, and probably never will meet but she has been instrumental in my Christian walk. I was introduced to her through our individual blogs and within a few months we became firm friends. When she found out about my love of music, and somewhat limited knowledge of the Christian music scene, she pointed me in the way of some great artists. One of them was Thousand Foot Krutch with their song Inhuman which quickly became a favourite of mine and I have been itching to hear more.

Read More I have a friend in America who I have never met, and probably never will meet but she has been instrumental in my Christian walk.
So this is the first full length album I have heard and I wasn't altogether disappointed. The sounds of Inhuman are gone, but they are replaced with some great melodic heavy rock. The Intro of The Invitation, for me, is a bit unnecessary and doesn't really seem to smooth the transition into title track Welcome To The Masquerade but they seem like the kind of band that were maybe going for that.
There are moments of hard rock coupled with the screaming vocals you'd find on a Linkin Park song but, equally, there are moments of epic and anthemic rock not unlike One Republic. Take Bring Me To Life as an example, close your eyes for this song and you can see the makings of the climatic ending in an action thriller.
I have to admit that by the half way mark of this album I was starting to feel let down as the tracks were beginning to melt into one another and it was getting very samey. Cue Look Away which stops the impending monotony and also puts an end to the One Republic comparison. Beginning with a simple vocal and acoustic guitar arrangement but gradually some harmonies and beats are introduced to complete a beautiful song.
With a great Queen reference (using the melody from We Will Rock You) in Smack Down winding the album down slowly, a good album ends. Admittedly, it wasn't the hard rocking album I was expecting, but there was enough in it to make up for that. I bet they are great live too.
