U2 Album 'Songs Of Ascent' May Not Be Released This Year

Aug 13 2009

Despite previously announcing that Irish rock stars U2 hope to release 'Songs Of Ascent', a new album based on the theme of pilgrimage, in 2009, recent comments by lead singer Bono now suggest that this is unlikely to happen. Speaking to the Irish Independent, Bono stated that, whilst the band have nine pieces of music that they feel are really special, the album will only be released if they feel it is as good as their recent release, 'No Line On The Horizon'.

Guitarist The Edge stated, "We would love the idea of the next record being sooner rather than later. We certainly have the material for it, but it's about whether we have the time to finish it. It depends on how the touring progresses."

U2 are currently taking part in the first leg of their '360 Tour', which they will bring to the UK tomorrow (14th August). The band will play two back-to-back nights at Wembley Stadium, before moving to stadiums in Glasgow, Cardiff and Sheffield.
