Former The Elms Lead Singer Owen Thomas Releases Debut Solo Album 'Languages'

Nov 28 2012

One year after US rock band The Elms released a DVD of their final show together, the band's former lead singer Owen Thomas has released his debut solo album 'Languages {or Get Dark & Find Yourself}'.

The album features 12 brand-new songs written by Owen, who was singer and songwriter of The Elms for the entirety of the band's existence from 2000-2010. Recorded quietly over the course of the last year and produced by Owen with longtime friend and collaborator Thomas Daugherty (guitarist of The Elms), 'Languages' is highly personal and reflective of Owen's life and work in the last two years.

"His noted melodic and lyrical sensibilities are on full display in these songs", says Owen's former band. "We're so glad to introduce you Owen's exciting new music, and to the world of Languages... We're sure you're going to enjoy the new work! This is Owen's first original musical offering of any kind since the disbanding of The Elms in Summer 2010."

The Elms performed their final concert together on 30th July 2010 at Radio Radio in Indianapolis. The band's fourth and final studio album, 'The Great American Midrange' was released in 2009 and was the highest-charting album of their career.

The deluxe limited edition version of 'Languages' features an array of supplemental material, including a CD in gatefold sleeve, a set of 12 textured postcards featuring album lyrics and photos, a sticker set, and personalized note from Owen, all in a handmade, collector's heavyweight envelope, with every single element being meticulously designed by Owen.
