Louder Than The Music

Three-time Grammy nominated worship group Gungor will be recording numerous performances on their current 'Ghosts Upon The Earth Tour' for a live CD/DVD collection planned for release in October 2012.

The band launched a successful Kickstarter campaign to raise the necessary funds for the project through fan donations in return for rewards such as advanced copies of the CD/DVD and other merchandise.

"We have recently fulfilled our contract with our label and are now free to make this album that we feel like we are supposed to make", explains lead singer Michael Gungor. "The idea is to make a live album as well as a short film of sorts. Rather than focusing on a single concert experience, we would like to record the majority of our upcoming Spring tour and compile the most 'magical' moments that happen into one project."

"For example, how cool would it be to have one song recorded with the Church gathered in a mainstream venue in New York City, but then the next song is being sung with the Church gathered working in an African orphanage or a basement in China?" continues Gungor. "How powerful would it be to bring a couple acoustic guitars and a string section into a room with a bunch of recovering drug addicts and sing 'Beautiful Things' with them? That's the kind of thing we'd like to see on this film rather than just a traditional concert DVD."

The group have been selling out shows in major cities across the US, including Dallas, Houston and Santa Ana. With stops in New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago and more, the 'Ghosts Upon The Earth Tour', launched on 1st March in Austin, Texas, features special guest The Brilliance.

Well-known for taking a fresh, distinctive approach to worship music, Gungor's latest album 'Ghosts Upon The Earth' sold over 9,500 units during the first week of its release last year, earning Gungor the Number 3 spot on Christian Soundscan and Number 43 on the Billboard Top 200 while also debuting at Number 1 on the Christian iTunes Charts. iTunes also heralded Gungor as the iTunes Rewind 2011 pick for 'Christian & Gospel Breakout Artist of the Year'
