Feb 02 2012

Hawk Nelson lead singer Jason Dunn has announced plans to depart the band in May 2012 in order to concentrate on his first solo project. Jason will perform under the name Lights Go Down later this year, releasing his first album 'Abandon Progress' in the summer.

"I will miss playing music on stage with my friends, but really looking forward to the future with Lights Go Down," says Dunn. "I wish Hawk Nelson the very best with their future endeavors."

Dunn spent the last few months recording at Profile Studios in Vancouver, with RIAA Gold-accredited record producer Steve Kravac (Blink 182, MxPx, Less Than Jake). Keeping fans updated on the progress of his new project on Facebook, the singer wrote recently "Had a blast recording 'Abandon Progress' in Vancouver with Steve Kravac. 'Abandon Progress' is finished! Mixes start today!"

Hailing from Ontario, Canada, Hawk Nelson signed to Tooth and Nail Records in 2004, and to date have recorded five full-length albums. The Grammy and Dove Award nominated band will release 'The Songs You've Already Heard: Best of Hawk Nelson' on 27th March 2012, featuring 15 of their greatest hits.
