Yazz Returns With New Christian Album 'This Is Love'
British pop singer Yazz returns with her new album 'This Is Love' on 10th October 2011 as the follow up to her successful Christian debut, 'Running Back To You' (2008). The singer is best known for her career in the pop music industry during the 80's and 90's which culminated in her hit single 'The Only Way is Up' which stayed at Number 1 in the UK singles chart for six weeks.
"An infectious fusion of soul, jazz, Gospel and RnB, This Is Love picks up where Running Back To You left off, exploring themes of faith and hope from one who has seen so much. As with Running Back To You, Yazz's distinctive voice takes centre stage, managing to convey warmth with power and vulnerability in a mix that's impossible not to be uplifted by."
Following a break from the music industry, Yazz reestablished herself as a Christian singer in 2008. "My Christian life began only 12 years ago, but what an amazing & exciting 12 years" says the singer. "All the songs I have written were inspired by conversations I have had through prayer, inspired by scriptures, life situations, precious family and friendships, the good times and the bad."
Pete Ware, who worked on the new album with Yazz at The Parrothouse recording studio in Spain, said: "Following on from her first Christian contemporary album 'Running Back To You', this new work continues to express her deep message of devotion and praise and also incorporates links with Yazz's Jamaican roots visiting many of the musical styles that have influenced her writing and performance over the years. There's a kaleidoscope of musical genres here from reggae to latin, jazz to gospel and funk to soulful ballad - all infused within her own highly distinctive vocal arrangements."
