European Tour For Gungor Ahead Of New Album 'Ghosts Upon The Earth'
Ahead of the release of their third album 'Ghosts Upon The Earth' on 20th September 2011, Grammy nominated worship group Gungor will be taking to the road in Europe this month to perform at festivals and churches. Known for their innovative live performance, Gungor's European tour will visit England, Sweden, Netherlands and Northern Ireland during August.
Kicking off today, 10th August, at Creation Fest in Wadebridge, England, the band will also perform at Rocknations in Bradford, England (11th), Sweden's Frizon Festival (13th), Netherlands' Flevo Festival (18th), Northern Ireland's Fuel Festival (20-21st) and the UK's popular Greenbelt Festival (27th), before ending at the Proclaimers Church in Norwich (28th).
Gungor is fronted by singer/songerwriter Michael Gungor who is best known for co-writing distinguished songs like 'Friend of God' and the Dove Award-winning 'Say So'. The group, who received acclaim for their brilliant previous album 'Beautiful Things' last year, return with an album produced by lead singer Michael and primarily written by Michael and his wife Lisa, who is also a featured vocalist in this musical collective.
Recorded in numerous locations, including the Gungor's home, the album also includes seventeen players, four additional vocalists, a six-person string ensemble and a boy's choir. Inspiration for the album was orchestrated from Gungor's weeklong meditation in Assisi where he was inspired by the Saint's view of the world, as well as from the birth of their daughter last year. 'Ghosts Upon The Earth' takes its title from an allegory by C.S. Lewis titled 'The Great Divorce', in which the 'ghosts' of a grey town encounter a heaven that is astonishingly, even painfully, real.
Gungor will also be joining the David Crowder Band on it's final ever tour later this year, alongside John Mark McMillan and Chris August.
