Brandon Joseph Howard Releasing 'Covered', Inspired By Rare Kidney Disease

Mar 20 2024

Brandon Joseph Howard is releasing a single titled 'Covered', a song that God gave him to write and sing to encourage him through adjusting to life with a rare kidney disease. The song will be available on streaming platforms on March 28th.

"Following a retreat that I attended for veterans struggling with PTSD and other mental health challenges, I experienced a profound spiritual awakening. It was a turning point in my life, marked by a deep commitment to my faith. I was transformed in three days from being angry, anxious, hyper-vigilant and depressed to the loving husband and father I needed to be for my family. Shortly thereafter, my wife and I were baptized, symbolizing our newfound devotion to Christ.

Yet, amidst the excitement of joining a church and our baptism, a storm of illness descended upon me. What began as a common cold soon spiraled into a series of health crises. From sinus infections to pneumonia, and finally, atrial fibrillation, which is when I found myself in a hospital bed. But the greatest trial came during that hospital stay with the discovery that my kidney numbers were not within a normal range. As they ran test after test, I wondered if my healthcare would cover all that the hospital was doing. At that time, I turned to my faith to answer that question.

Suddenly, the calming realization struck: "I am covered by Jesus, I don't need to worry about any of this, Jesus has already won this battle". I clung to my faith, finding solace in music as I was going through those tests. Once I was well enough, I picked up my guitar and penned a song titled "Covered," a heartfelt expression of trust in God's unwavering protection."
