Yemi Alafifuni Says 'the Divine is within us all' with release of new Afrobeat song 'DNA'

Feb 02 2024

UK chart topping music artist, Yemi Alafifuni has released a profound and thought-provoking new single titled "DNA". Inspired by a saying “Carry God on your inside” and first written on a flight, Yemi search for a correlation between scriptures and the inherent good in everyone? Whether Christian or not, do we all have a trace of God inside of us?

This is a fresh afrobeat sound, aimed at the young at heart but bears the truth of the scriptures for all.

THE INSPIRATION
The song idea started over 20 years ago during a vibrant time at the first university Yemi attended. At this university, he joined a cohort of Christian students who were passionate about learning. Yemi recalls that they would usually greet each other with a saying; “You carry God on your inside!”. This was a constant reminder of who they were in Christ. This saying stuck with me for years, Yemi said. But could there be more to that saying? Like many manufacturers will include a personal signature in their creation that shows ownership, did God put a personal signature of His in every human?

The answer is Yes. Where? Our DNA.

This song summarises Yemi’s research into the topic of identity and how our deepest being carries GOD and everything we are, comes from Him.

THE MESSAGE
DNA in humans shows strong evidence of a Creator. It carries information that cannot have occurred by natural forces or by random combination of coincidence but came by intelligent design. The intelligence of a supreme being wise enough to code such complexity and make it work in an ecstatic way.

The presence of God is not a lofty abstract. It exists in the same way that our breathing, heartbeat, and bone marrow do. You can't get away from it, and you can't shake it. The word 'DNA', which embraces this essence, emphasizes that within each of us is much more than just genes - it contains the love of our Heavenly Father, the ultimate source of our identity.

Isaiah 64:8 says; ‘But now, O Lord, you are our Father; we are the clay, and you are our potter; we are all the work of your hand.’

Whilst we have been given the gift of freewill and can decide either good or evil, what we believe and how we live our lives, the fact remains that there’s a signature of our creator in each one of us. Jeremiah 13:23 says ‘Can the Ethiopian change his skin or the leopard his spots? Then also you can do good who are accustomed to do evil.’

And though many have strayed away from His loving arms, He remains the same. John 1:12 says; But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.

We therefore need to return to Him and accept his plans for us, his beloved creation.

In Yemi’s own words, we all have a trace of God in us. That’s in everyone! Christian or not. Black or white and every colour or race in between.

We all belong to God. We all carry God.

Yemi is praying that this song re-affirms your identity in Yahweh and bring you ever so close to your true Father. Amen.
