Interview: Holly Dayle

Apr 20 2023

Holly Dayle is an emerging Christian artist who has released her single, "Joy Changes Things". Louder Than The Music spoke to Holly about what drives her to create music, her plans for more new releases later this year, and who she'd love to write songs with!

For those who haven't heard of you before, can you tell us a bit about yourself and how you got involved in making music?

I'd be happy to share a bit about myself and how I got involved in making music! My name is Holly Dayle, and at my core, I am a follower of Jesus, a daughter to my parents, a sibling to my sister, and, of course, a musician.

Music has always been a part of my life, and I can't imagine living without it. Sometimes, even casual conversations in my daily life translate into lyrics in my head, and sounds turn into melodies. It's just the way my brain works! I have a deep love for music and a particular passion for singing. My heart's desire is to use music to bless and move audiences with the power of song through Jesus.

There is something so incredible about leading others in worship and bringing them into the presence of our Lord Jesus. It's the ultimate fulfillment for me to minister to people through song and to use my voice to bring joy and peace to others.

To be honest, I don't even remember when I first realized I wanted to pursue music as a career. It just always felt like the natural path for me. I've loved music since I was a little girl, and it's always been a part of who I am.

I hope that through my music and faith, I can make a positive impact on the lives of many people. Whether it's bringing comfort during tough times, inspiring people to pursue their faith, or simply bringing joy and encouragement to someone's day, I hope to use music as an instrument to do good in this world.

Tell us about your new single 'Joy Changes Things' and what the inspiration behind it was?

My new single, "Joy Changes Things," is all about the power of joy that comes from God and how it can bring hope even in the toughest of circumstances.

It is important to understand that joy is different from happiness. Happiness is often fleeting and relies on external circumstances to bring us that sense of contentment. Joy, on the other hand, is a deep-rooted sense of peace and security that comes from our faith in God and the knowledge that He loves us and has rescued us no matter what.

The inspiration behind this song comes from my own personal experience of discovering the power of joy in my life. There have been times when circumstances seemed overwhelming and it felt like there was no way out. But through my faith in God even when I didn’t understand Proverbs 3:5-6, I discovered that joy can change everything. especially in the midst of pain and suffering, joy can bring hope and strength to keep going.
joy is far more powerful and lasting than happiness, and it's something that we can all experience if we choose to trust in Jesus. I want my music to inspire others to seek out that deep sense of joy that comes from celebrating God's involvement in our lives. So don't settle for happiness, because joy truly changes things!

Do you have any plans to release more music in the near future?

Definitely! I am so excited to be releasing more music in the near future. Right now, I actually have two more songs in production that I can't wait to share with everyone.

Both of these new songs are really special to me because they draw from the power of God and His love for us. They also speak to the importance of working together in unity through the church.

I'm happy to share that the plan is to release my next single in early June, and then another single in early September. I believe that music has the power to inspire, uplift, and bring people together, and I want to keep creating more and more of it.

So to answer your question, yes, I absolutely have plans to release more music in the near future. And honestly, the more music the better! I can't wait to share what I've been working on with all of you.

What message would you like people to take from your music?

For me, music is all about spreading the message of hope and love that comes from Jesus. My ultimate goal is for people to see God in my music and to be inspired and uplifted by the messages that I'm sharing.

I believe that music has the power to bring people together and to create something new and beautiful in partnership with Jesus. It's a way to minister to people and to bring the love of God into their lives.

My hope is that when people listen to my music, they will be reminded of the hope and peace that comes from having a relationship with Jesus. I want to inspire others to seek out that deep sense of purpose and joy that comes from following Him.

In a world that can often feel dark and overwhelming, I believe that music has the power to be a beacon of light and hope. So my message to my audience is simple: through my music, I want to share the love and hope of Jesus with all who will listen.

How would you describe your style of music and what are your influences?

When it comes to describing my style of music, I would say it's quite diverse. I feel comfortable exploring various genres, ranging from worship and chill to jazz, cinematic, and Christian contemporary, among others. I love experimenting with different sounds and styles to create a unique blend that resonates with my artistic expression.

As for my influences, I draw inspiration from a wide range of artists. I'm a big fan of the jazzy vibes of Lauren Daigle, who has a soulful and timeless sound that I really admire. I'm also inspired by the depth and power of Cece Winans, whose music has a way of touching hearts and souls with its heartfelt messages. And I can't forget the energy and creativity of TobyMac, whose dynamic and genre-defying music has always captivated me.
All these artists, along with many others, have influenced my musical journey in different ways. I listen to a wide variety of music and draw inspiration from diverse sources, which I think is reflected in my own music. I strive to create a style that is uniquely mine, while also paying homage to the artists and genres that have impacted me along the way.

If you could work with any songwriter, who would it be and why?

If I could work with any songwriter, hands down, it would have to be Matthew West. He is an incredibly talented and gifted songwriter, and his ability to tell stories through his music is truly inspiring. I have always been a big fan of his work, and his songs have had a profound impact on me music.
One of the reasons I would love to work with him is his ability to capture the essence of what it means to be a Christian and to live out our faith in everyday life. His songs are relatable, thought-provoking, and full of heart, and I have no doubt that working with him would be an incredible learning experience for me.

What's more, he has produced so many great songs not just for his own albums, but for other artists as well. For instance, his recent collaboration with Anne Wilson on "My Jesus" was truly breathtaking, and I think it would be a dream come true to work with him on something similar.

Overall, Matthew West is a songwriter who has truly made a mark on the Christian music scene, and I would be honored to have the opportunity to work with him and learn from his incredible talent and experience.

How would you define success in your career as an artist?

As a Christian artist, success for me goes beyond external achievements or worldly recognition. It's about honoring God with my talents and using my music as a means to touch hearts and impact lives. Success, to me, is measured by the blessings my music brings to my audience, whether it's just one person or countless others.

I believe that my purpose as an artist is to be a vessel of God's love and inspiration, to be His hands and feet, and perhaps even His voice in song. When I see my music resonating with others, bringing comfort, joy, or inspiration, that's when I feel successful.

But success is not just about the numbers or the fame. It's about staying true to my faith and my values, and being mindful of Jesus' words in Matthew 16:26, reminding me that worldly gains are not worth losing my soul.

Success, for me, is also about continuously growing and evolving as an artist. It's about pushing myself to improve my skills, taking risks, and staying true to my artistic vision. It's about being authentic and true to myself, and using my music to spread messages of love, hope, and faith.

In the end, success in my career as an artist is about aligning my music with my purpose, honoring God, staying true to my values, making a positive impact, and continuously growing as an artist. It's a journey, and I'm grateful for every opportunity to share my music and bless others with it. That, to me, is the true measure of success in my artistic career.

What is your favorite album of all time?

Oh, that's a tough question! Asking me to pick my favorite album is like asking me to choose which parent I love the most - it's impossible! There are so many incredible albums out there that have impacted me in different ways at different times in my life.

However, I can say that lately I've been greatly ministered to by the album "Rise Up" by Cain. The whole album is filled with powerful and uplifting worship songs that speak to my heart and draw me closer to God. The lyrics are so honest and raw, and the music is beautifully crafted. It's an album that I can listen to over and over again, and it continues to inspire me every time I hear it.

But honestly, there are so many albums that have had a profound impact on my life. Music has the power to evoke emotions, capture memories, and transport us to different places and times. I have a special place in my heart for various albums that have accompanied me through different seasons of my life, and it's hard to pick just one as my ultimate favorite.

You're stuck on an island, it's hot, you only have enough battery life left to listen to one song on your phone. What track is it?

Wow, that's a tough question. If I were stuck on an island with only one song left to listen to, it would have to be "The Goodness" by TobyMac and Blessings Offor. This song reminds me that even in the midst of difficult circumstances, God's goodness and love never change. It's a powerful reminder to trust in Him and hold onto hope no matter what. Plus, the beat is so infectious, it's impossible to not dance and sing along!

What does the next year hold for you?

As an emerging female Christian artist, I'm excited for what the next year holds for me. My focus will be on writing and producing music, honing my skills, and refining my craft. I know that the music industry can be challenging, with no clear career path for artists, but I'm ready to put in the hard work and effort. I'm relying on God's guidance and provision, trusting that He will open doors and opportunities for me as I continue to pursue my passion. I'm eager to see where this journey takes me and excited to share my music with the world in concert with Jesus.
