Jules Rendell Wins 'Live and Unsigned' Competition To Perform At BigChurchDayOut

May 10 2010

London-based singer Jules Rendell has won the Premier Radio 'Live and Unsigned' competition, giving her the opportunity to perform on the B stage at the UK's Big Church Day Out event on Bank Holiday Monday 31st May 2010.

Jules won the contest with her song 'Sunrise' after a huge amount of entries were whittled down to 9 finalists during weeks of voting. She will also be a guest on the Unsigned show on Premier this Saturday 15th May from 6-7pm. Jules has released two EPs, a self titled debut and more recently the seven song acoustic EP 'Sunrise'.

Described as a 'singer/soulwriter', Jules' distinctive mix of acoustic and soul music have won her many fans across continents and faiths. Unusually Jules began her career as an opera singer and trained at Manchester’s Royal Northern College of Music. She then realised her passion was more with jazz and soul music than opera. Jules says she learned "just as much, if not more, about music at church than at college".

The Big Church Day Out takes place at Stanford Hall in the Midlands on Saturday 29th May and at Wiston House in West Sussex on Sunday 30th May and Bank Holiday Monday 31st May. Artists set to perform this year include Switchfoot, Hillsong United, Toby Mac, Israel Houghton, Brenton Brown, Tim Hughes, Graham Kendrick and Lou Fellingham.
