The Voice Star Thunderstorm Artis Releases 'Surprise' Single

Feb 13 2023

Inspirational artist Thunderstorm Artis, breakout stunner and second runner-up of Season 18 (2020) of "The Voice," is known for making music that strengthens the heart and awakens the soul. In the last year, Thunderstorm has toured with Jack Johnson, Train, and Jewel, his new single "Stronger" was featured in a recent episode of "Grey's Anatomy," and he's on the lineup for BottleRock 2023. Now, this precious ray of sunshine has a new single on the way for Valentine's Day called "Surprise," out February 10th, inspired by the memory of meeting his wife:

Of "Surprise" he says: “It was at a time when I believed that true love wasn’t possible, but to my surprise, she changed everything, has given me new life, and has taught me to love in ways that I didn’t know existed.”

Thunderstorm's massive talent is embedded in his DNA - his father Ron was a Motown session player, and his mother Victoria toured as a backup singer for the likes of Lena Horne. The Portland-by-way-of-Oahu multi-instrumentalist who got his start playing in a band with his 10 siblings as a little kid, begin to write songs to help him process the pain of losing his father. He realized that his music not only brought him healing, but it could also bring healing to others in pain. His Christian faith also plays an important role in everything he creates.

Recently, he's been in the studio creating an album of genre-bending songs built on both emotionally raw storytelling and incisive soul-searching, offering much-needed insight into living with hope even in the darkest of times, and "I" is the newest gem from the mine.
