Australia's David Enever Releases 'Lazarus, Poor Lazarus'

Feb 02 2021

Singer songwriter David Enever, an Australian primary school teacher, has released his new single 'Lazarus, Poor Lazarus', based on Luke 16:19-31 - The Rich Man and Lazarus. "It's a ballad taking us through the story of a beggar named Lazarus who is sitting at the rich man’s gate, longing to scab some scraps of food from him", explains David. "The rich man fails to either notice or care and act about Lazarus, rather enjoying his riches during his life. When the time comes for them to enter the afterlife, the Rich man gets a rude shock. This song challenges us not to fall into the habits of the rich man; caring more for his earthly possessions than people."

Based in Wagga Wagga, New South Wales, David Enever has over a decade of experience in Victorian and New South Wales Schools. He aims to assist in Christian faith formation in schools and for the general public through the release of music and by providing concerts.

David's school concerts aim to encourage and support faith formation through stimulating reflection by singing and moving to scriptural based songs. Friendly dialogue, with the occasional 'dad joke', also help to engage student thinking around Christian themes.
