Bethany Cruz Releases 'The Turnaround'
Bethany Cruz has released her new single 'The Turnaround' featuring Osby Berry. Co-produced by Grammy-winner Tedd T, 'The Turnaround', is the first track from Bethany's full-length debut album due for release in 2021. The track features worship leader and singer Osby Berry and speaks of facing hardship by refusing to give up despite great difficulty. Bethany has also just released re-imagined versions of her Christmas song, 'O Come Emmanuel', in both English and Spanish.
Bethany Cruz has a love for R&B and powerful Pop music. She cites Lauren Hill, Usher, and Kelly Clarkson as influences. This is reflected in her songwriting and in the soaring vocals she brings to her own music and to her guest appearances.
Growing up in a family that traveled around the U.S. throughout her childhood, Bethany began her musical journey singing background vocals for her older brother in church, joining the worship team at the age of 15. After graduating from high school early, she sang and was the main songwriter in a band with her brother and cousin while working a full-time job during the day. Bethany moved to Nashville, Tennessee, in 2010 to pursue music full-time, actively booking studio work as a singer and developing her songwriting skills. She also began mentoring and providing vocal training to aspiring young singers, which she still does in her spare time.
Bethany’s first music release was as a featured artist on a track by hip-hop band Group 1 Crew in 2016, after which she released her own EP of Christmas songs, Rejoice! Songs for the Season, Vol. 1, later that year. Bethany followed with two cover medleys in 2017, including “Try/Pretty/Hurts/Just The Way You Are,” a mashup of empowering songs by Colbie Caillat, Beyonce, and Bruno Mars. A clip of this performance has garnered over 3.2 million views and 330,000 reactions on Facebook. In 2017, Bethany released her follow-up Christmas EP, Rejoice! Songs for the Season, Vol. 2, which includes a version of “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen” featuring Chad Mattson, the lead singer of pop band Unspoken. Bethany joined Unspoken on the band’s 2018 Christmas tour and performed with singer Michael W. Smith in 2019.
