FFH Frontman Jeromy Shawn Deibler Releases 'Soul Finds Rest'

Oct 20 2020

Jeromy Shawn Deibler, best know for being frontman in the band FFH (Far From Home) has released his new solo single 'Soul Finds Rest'. Jeromy started his first band when he was 16 years old and has been making music and art ever since.

"Six years ago Jennifer and me and the kids moved from Franklin, TN to California to start a new adventure and get the change of scenery that we knew we needed. We lived in the Nashville area for 18 years, did most of our touring from there, and our kids were born there, but at some point what we thought would be our home forever didn’t really feel like home anymore. So we decided to make a change.

It has been a wonderful adventure here in Orange County, watching our kids be part of a community and get to do things that they want to do. We’ve been to a lot of auditions, and dance recitals, and youth camps, and have thoroughly enjoyed every bit of it, especially the ocean.

But things were stirring in me, new things, and with those stirring have come some songs, and ideas for projects, but I didn’t quite know how to come out of the dark.

Then, one Saturday morning during quarantine, I connected with Scott Williamson over Facebook. Scott produced most of the FFH records and is responsible for much of the bands early success. I told Scott that I was getting itchy start writing and recording and releasing music again and he got excited with me. Before we knew it we were working together on 'Soul Finds Rest' and Scott, as usual, took over from there.

Because of the COVID-19 lockdown, Scott arranged for everything to be done remotely. I sent him some rough mixes and a very bad vocal demo and he began putting pieces together, starting with a drum track, bass parts, and guitar parts, all recorded from different home studios, and a few different states.

Once we had a basic track to live with, I went to my friend Tim Davis‘s house here in Irvine and Tim produced my vocal and sang some backing vocals. Tim is best known for being the vocal arranger and producer for the television series 'Glee,' so I was in very capable hands. Tim sent those files back to Scott in Nashville and Scott’s daughter Emma Rose added a few more BGVs. Then, at the beginning of June, Scott was able to produce an orchestra session for the song arranged by Jason Webb, who also re-recorded my scratchy piano track, and all of a sudden 'Soul Finds Rest' was finished.

I decided a few months ago to incorporate my middle name 'Shawn' as I started to release music apart from FFH. I like the name, but it is more than that for me: Shawn means 'Yahweh is Gracious,' and I’ve learned over the past decade that God is better than I’d ever imagined God could be, and that God has blessed me more than I deserve, so it made sense for we come out of the dark as Jeromy Shawn Deibler."
