Derived from her faith, Jordan discusses how First Fruits conceptualized into the project that it is today, “It (First Fruits) is a musical melding of my life, faith, and artistic influences which span jazz, gospel and R&B. This album is my personal response to God’s call “You shall bring the very first of the fruits of your soil into the house of the LORD your God.” Exodus 23:19”
Jordan wishes to extend her influences of faith into the listener’s life, “The central themes of First Fruit are gratitude and love. I have selected, arranged and recorded several classic hymns and Christian songs which aim to evoke this spiritual connection. My mission is to uplift listeners, and create an atmosphere for them to connect with God and experience His presence.” On the album, Jordan has recruited and collaborated with artists such as Luke Sellick (bass), JImmy MacBride (drums), and Christian Sands on the piano, rhodes, and hammond B3. Christian, in addition to performing, is also helping Jordan co-produce the project. Special guests on the album include Mat Jodrell on trumpet/flugelhorn and Joe McDonough on trombone.
"As a thank you for your support I've created a variety of cool rewards with a pre-release digital download of the album at the starting level. Other items include a signed copy of the CD, a First Fruit tote bag, special mention of your name in the album credits, and tickets to the CD release show". At a higher pledge amount Jordan offers a First Fruit bomber jacket for those who wish to appear “hipper-than-a-mug walking down the street”. Other pledged rewards include signed sheet music, personalized house concerts, and credit as an executive producer.
A contribution to Jordan’s campaign goes towards mixing, mastering, distribution, publicity, album artwork, and licensing. With a goal of $8,000, the campaign is set to end on November 20th, 2017, “Any amount helps and your contributions will be immensely appreciated and will help bring this album to fruition!”.
