There's something about the sound of a guitar that has always just made sense to me, I guess that's why most of my reviews will mention what the guitars are like. I can block out a whole song of bad lyrics and shocking melodies to listen to a killer guitar riff. David Ostby's album is filled with sweet guitar riffs and songs that have great acoustic vibes to them.

I can block out a whole song of bad lyrics and shocking melodies to listen to a killer guitar riff. David Ostby's album is filled with sweet guitar riffs and songs that have great acoustic vibes to them.
But I have to admit I wasn't a big fan of this album on first listening, the lyrics seemed weak and the songs seem to mesh into each other more than you would want but there are some strong songs on here. All Because Of You is a great up tempo song with simple lyrics and a catchy melody.
Truth be told that was my issue with the album, none of the songs seem to carry much depth or provoke much soul-searching. The lyrics seem to float along the hearts surface expressing nothing more that the simple truths most Christian knows and embraces.
Knowing I had to do this review I logged onto his website to find out some background information and that was when it all clicked for me.
In his bio, David explains his passion for the Church. He tells of his background in leading worship in his local Church from the age of 16 and the joy of seeing a whole congregation joining in praise and worship. He goes on to explain that he wants his song writing to be accessible to the whole Church, and so the album makes sense. He states; "Worship leaders are not called to artistry. We are called to ministry. To me, leading worship is all about servanthood; it's not about entertaining people, it's about encountering God. I hope my songs make it easier for people to access God through worship. If I can do that, then I'll know that I'm on the right track."
So, if you want heart-wrenching, soul searching, feel good rock 'n' roll this isn't the album for you. If you want easy listening, simple heart warming truths, pick it up and give it a try. It may surprise you.
