"After five long years, we're ready to let this project out into the wild", says the band. "We have one request for those who choose to listen to this project. We only ask that you find a quiet place, go on a long drive, or put on some headphones and truly LISTEN to the album from start to finish. If you make the time to pay close attention, to truly listen, you will begin to hear that amidst each individual song there is a greater story being told. This is the story of our lives."
I couldn't agree more, you need to listen to this album as a whole and not as one or two tracks. The band have made a piece of work here that is upbeat at times and actually powerfully poignant at times, to get that balance right in music and lyrics isn't easy, but Sidewalk Prophets do this very well. The sound of the album is sort of in the Mercy Me, Third Day, Needtobreathe and for King & Country world of rock music. From the upbeat 'Smile' to the big power vocals on 'Where Forgiveness Is', to the honesty in the lyrics of 'Real To Me' - this album has a lot going for it!
One of the strongest songs on the album for me was the piano led 'The Comment Section', it's a truly beautiful song. It is a song in the main about us reading hurtful words in comments on websites, social media etc, but to remember we are all humans and that words can hurt. Other great songs on the album include the country beats of 'Don't you Think It's Time' and many many others.
I was surprised how much of an instant hit of an album this was. This album might have taken 5 years, but it has been worth the wait to have such a great balance of musical styles and different lyrical outputs. Sidewalk Prophets have made an album here that really stands out.
