Not another compilation album I hear you cry. That was the same response I gave when I saw that there would be a release of a new compilation called Worship Devotional - January. Yet there is something a bit different about this compilation album, something to help you alongside with the music to get closer to God and seek his will.

Yet there is something a bit different about this compilation album, something to help you alongside with the music to get closer to God and seek his will.

This album is an innovative new project that acts as a daily devotional. The concept is a simple one, but an effective one. The albums comes in the form of a double CD, jammed with some of the best worship songs recorded in recent years, each track taking up one day of the month it is released for. What accompanies the tracks is a specially written devotional text that unpacks the lyrics, points back to the Bible and guides the reader through a beautifully written reflection on the God-centered heart of the song.

There are some great artists filling the track listing for each of the days on this album, tracks from Mark Tedder, Brenton Brown, Kelly Minter, Tim Hughes, Lou Fellingham, Brian Houston, Matt Redman and many many more. Each day is a new song from the album, some you might already know and have heard many times, yet there might be a new songs that you have never used in your devotional time. This is a great way to experience new worship leaders that you might not have heard before.

In a world where everything is mobile and multi-tasking extends way beyond the office, Worship Devotional offers something that is genuinely new. This album is an interesting idea and concept from Kingsway, but one that I'm sure will help people in their daily walk with God. There is a large array of song styles on this album from a mixed selection of worship leaders. My advice would be to buy this album, enjoy each song every day and read the devotion that goes with it and I'm sure this album will draw you closer to the Creator of the world.
