Now this is the kind of music I can get into. Opening song 'I Love Your Name' is an epic track. Musically it is crash, wallop, hard hitting audio that moves into nice atmospheric sounds with bleeps and beats and then crash, bang and wallop back into another hard hitting chorus. This is fist bumping kind of music that leads to hand raised in praise.
Rob has this voice that is easy to listen to. Not only that, he has this vocal that you trust. What I mean is he sings so clearly and powerfully you seem to listen to everything he has to say, you are not distracted by anything, you kind of hang on his every word. The song Arms gives the listener the perfect example of this.
Guitars are a prominent part of this album, but I wouldn't call it a rock album. Synths can also be heard on the majority of tracks but I wouldn't call it a dance album. Rob has mixed together different styles, all the styles that fall in the contemporary bracket but all of these sounds make the Rob Eisner sound that we hear on this release.
Please forgive me for a moment, but I had this moment I wanted to share. The sound and style I would compare Rob Eisner to is Ian Yates. I hope this helps. Right back to review of the songs.
'Your Grace' is a beautiful number. 'Rescued' is an atmospheric track that has a sprinkle of dub step. This lad knows how to mix the musical genres with style. Before you have time to adjust your ears, Rob brings out an acoustic intimate worship song that is truly sublime. 'Take My Life (I Hold Nothing Back)' is worth a 5 star rating on its own. As you might have expected by now with Rob, what started off as an intimate acoustic track is suddenly turned into a powerful passionate anthem. From soft vocals to big belting it out kind of vocals, both deliveries are as good as each other.
For an independent release this is fantastic. Hang on, that comment devalues a) this EP, as this is as good as anything released by any artist this year on a label or not, and b) some of the best music I have heard over the year are from Indie releases. What I'm trying to get at, in a round about way is.. 1) This Rob Eisner release is brilliant, 2) Go and check out other indie releases - there are so many great artists needing to be heard, and 3) I've got to stop writing reviews like a 3 point sermon. Hopefully my points have been made. This EP is brilliant or as our Liverpool friend Ian Yates would say 'it's boss'.
