Colton Dixon has released his third studio album titled Identity. Upbeat, modern, synth, poppy tracks but with lyrics that will inspire the listeners from the start to the close of the album - that is what this album is all about. This style of music is a different way to go for Colton compared to his previous albums.

This style of music is a different way to go for Colton compared to his previous albums.

What I found myself doing the most with this album was wanting to dance, not something you should do when walking around with headphones on, there are not many public situations where this is a great idea. But it's true the songs 'All That Matters' and 'Brand New Life' have this beat that is infectious and enjoyable to the ear that makes you want to dance.

The contemporary but 80s inspired sounds that are filling the mainstream charts these days, usually from solo artists, comes over during the great track 'Technicolor<'/i>. This is a wonderful pop song that has all the elements needed for a great pop tune. I also really loved the vibe of the track 'High'.

It's during In My Veins that the album seems to jump up in intensity. The song packs a bit of a punch in depth and emotion. We see Colton move from pop and more into modern alt rock. This is a truly impressive song.

The switch in style continues during the songs 'Warrior' and 'Down'. Again these songs have a bit more fire and fervour than say the very poppy song 'I Would Choose You'. All three are great songs but very different stylistically, but on this album they all seem to fit in unison.

One of the not so upbeat track on the album has to be the song 'The Other Side'. This is a beautiful song, a song which has such a big message that will leave the listener close to tears.

The biggest curve ball, creatively, on the album has to be the piano led closing track 'Autopsy'. I would even say it's more like a classical music piece, it has some clever chord choices throughout. This song shows off the amazing vocals from Colton much more than any other song.

Overall the conclusion for me is that this is a top album that would fit right in with the albums out at the moment in any chart. Track after track of high quality alt-pop hits that have a great groove that will get you dancing. Yet the main thing I took from the album was the passion behind each of the songs, that was the most inspiring and biggest draw of the album. Colton Dixon really has made an excellent album here.
