Lagos-Born UK Based Artist Shimon Atunde Releases 'No Matter'

Apr 09 2020

Lagos born, Leicester (UK) based artist, Shimon Atunde has released his new single 'No Matter'. The song is a retelling of the greatest love story ever told but from the view of the saved. It was written at a time where Shimon felt he kept committing the same sin and just could not get out of that loop. It describes in the simplest words the way our sins affect us and our relationship with God. It shows how toxic our relationship with God can be when we continue to take his grace for granted. However, the song still reminds us that "No Matter what, nothing can separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord".

'No Matter' employs unusual melodies and rhythms with an uplifting bop. Produced by DeSpecialist, the melodies used draw you in straight away. This combined with the soothing vocals of Shimon remind you of that no matter what, God's arms remain waiting for us to come to him.

Shimon Atunde is an independent artist born in Lagos, Nigeria where he spent most of his life before moving to the UK. His songs tell stories of his life both good and bad in the light of God's unchanging love and his continuous need for God. Shimon is a PhD student in the department of Cardiovascular Science at the University of Leicester, plays keyboard at his local church and is President of Pillarz Society (a christian society on the University of Leicester campus) He has also won the Pomerance Prize for Music at the University of Leicester for contributions to music within the university whilst coming second place at the University Gospel Choir of the Year (2016, 2017) with Leicester University Voices.
