Portland's The Bell Jar have released their debut album 'I Infest, Therefore I Am' via digital retailers and streaming services. The three-piece band consists of brothers Joshua and Patrick Porter, two of the founding members of the Christian hardcore band Showbread, plus their friend Whitney DePaoli. The album includes the track 'Toxic Shock Syndrome', featured in the following video.

In an brave, if not foolhardy, social media claim leading up to the album's release - the group stated that if not enough people pre-ordered the album to fund the production, they would refund all orders and destroy the master recordings, leaving their music unreleased forever. The threat never came to fruition though, with enough pre-orders made to save the album.

Showbread built an underground fanbase in the late 1990s and early 2000s before signing with Tooth & Nail Records in 2004 for the release of their major-label debut, 'No Sir, Nihilism Is Not Practical'. Throughout their career the band has been subject to much controversy among Christian listeners, over their lyrical themes and personal lifestyles.
