Sharon Sewell Releases Solo EP 'Metamorphosis'

Oct 17 2016

Teesside based singer/songwriter Sharon Sewell has just released her first solo EP 'Metamorphosis'.

One of Sharon Sewell's earliest memories is of her Nana taking her to a church meeting and getting her up to sing 'As I Kneel Before You'. She was 7 years old. Shortly after this Sharon felt that she really encountered God at another church meeting and that from that moment she always felt she was different. As she grew older, like many other teenagers Sharon rebelled and became (in her words) unruly. She stopped singing and felt lost. She did not sing again until September 2008 when she returned to church and renewed her faith and trust in God.

Sharon attends New Life Teesside church. She explains "I was baptised soon after joining and just before my baptism I made up and a song called 'I Was Lost' which I was singing to myself. I had never written a song before and I was excited, however I didn’t have the confidence to sing it at my baptism. The first ever time I sang was at a small meeting in a friend’s home. Before I sang I asked all present to close their eyes as I was so nervous!"

Encouraged by the great response to her song and her singing, Sharon began practising with the church’s worship leader. They, along with a third member, then formed a band called Disciplemakers who released an EP called 'Harvest Fields' in 2015 which included some songs written and sung by Sharon.

2016 sees Sharon stepping out as a solo artist and songwriter. "As a Christian singer, I want to spread the Gospel message through song," she states "I believe trusting in and following Jesus is the only way. I also want to encourage Christians to be the people, and the church, that Jesus calls them to be. I know God’s great love for us and I will praise Him with every breath."

Sharon has been writing worship inspired songs from the heart and has been recording them with the team at Broadwater Studios in Gateshead. Following the release of the first fruit of these sessions, the single “Give Me a Heart (Ezekiel 36:26)” earlier in the year (also included on this new EP), Sharon is now releasing ‘Metamorphosis’ which features four songs that Sharon has written and crafted about the life changing and life giving decision of becoming a Christian. The final song on the EP ‘Wings To Fly’ is also dedicated to her dad who recently passed away. Sharon’s voice shines through on all of the songs and it is obvious that she is singing from her heart.
