KXC, King's Cross Church in London, has released its first Worship EP titled 'Chapter One: The Father's Love'.
Produced by Ben Cantelon (Worship Central) and mixed by Sam Gibson (Hillsong United, Jesus Culture) the EP consists of 5 new songs that have been written by worship leaders at KXC.
Opening track Blood slowly builds up into what can only be described as a crescendo of praise. Firstly I love the sound, (it's also nice to hear the bass so loud in the mix). But it's the complete sound of the song that just blasts out of the speakers. I love...

Opening track Blood slowly builds up into what can only be described as a crescendo of praise. Firstly I love the sound, (it's also nice to hear the bass so loud in the mix). But it's the complete sound of the song that just blasts out of the speakers. I love the whole feeling of the song with lines like "We see it in Your blood God". This song just makes you want to stop what you are doing and worship God for what He has done for us. The song has a great bridge too, "This is the power of the cross, every heart can know that you believe in us". This song is one of those songs that just takes your breathe away.
A keyboard synth kicks off the track Singing Over Us. You can tell this song has been inspired from the sounds that Hillsong United produced with their latest album 'Zion'. This song is more than just a carbon copy of course, KXC have put their own spin on the modern worship sound. The chorus is just brilliant. "For you care for us, for you care for us, you are singing over us, with your love, with your love", then when you think the song can't go anywhere else, it seems to jump into another gear for the closing part. I bet singing this one in a worship setting is something else.
Now we move into the title track of the album The Father's Love, and the whole tempo of the EP is taken down a few notches. The song opens with a beautiful tone of a cello and then just a piano and a wonderful male vocal that sings out the line "You are the Holy God of Love". You just feel like this is someone sitting down and telling God heart to heart how much He means to them. The best songs are always the ones that are so honest that sometimes it can be hard to sing, but at the same time, songs like this get you thinking that God is, and always will be, a loving father who cares about every part of everyone's life.
The track As Our Love Rises is an atmospheric track that slowly builds into a cry to God: "In us and through us, Let your kingdom come". Musically this song is full of interesting and intriguing sounds, but it's the words calling out for the Holy Spirit to fill the room that are just so powerful. Another wow moment.
The EP ends with the track 'Now Glorious', which moves the style of the album back to the uplifting sounds of the opening track. This again has an anthemic cry to it, "Lifted up from the grave, to the highest place, ohhh ohhh". I love how this song goes from an all out powerful sound to just a simple piano. The contrast in the music is brilliant. The song is then allowed to build and build until we are back to singing the brilliant chorus.
I was completely blown away by these five tracks, so much so that I just had to sit back and again marvel at the power of God. It is amazing how music can do that. These five songs are just stunning songs that bring out the Glory of God. From listening to these songs I went on a journey of thinking how amazing God is, how much I love God, how much God loves me, how much God loves His people and that He deserves our everything. Not just musical worship, but our whole lives. As I said it's amazing how music can do this to us, but if you are looking for 5 big songs that will take you closer to God then please take time to find out more about this wonderful EP.
