Philippa Hanna To Support Wet Wet Wet On Ten-Date UK Tour

Oct 18 2013

British singer/songwriter Philippa Hanna has just announced that she will be joining legendary band Wet Wet Wet on their Greatest Hits UK Tour this December.

Following hot on the heels of her support slot with soul legend Lionel Richie last year, Philippa will be opening for Wet Wet Wet across ten UK dates, starting on 8th December at the Manchester Arena.

The tour then visits Brighton, Cardiff, London's O2, Nottingham, Bournemouth, Birmingham, Newscastle and Leeds, before ending on 19th December at Glasgow's Hydro. Also supporting at these gigs will be recently reformed boy band Blue.

Wet Wet Wet ‏broke the news themselves earlier today, 18th October, tweeting: "Excited to announce the addition of @philippahanna to line up for UK mainland dates of the Greatest Hits Tour!"

Philippa responded tweeting, "Can't contain my excitement at opening up for this amazing band!"

Fronted by Marti Pellow, Scottish pop band Wet Wet Wet have had chart hits around the world, most notably their 1994 hit 'Love Is All Around', made famous by the film 'Four Weddings and a Funeral', which spent fifteen weeks at No. 1 in the UK charts.

Philippa will be performing acoustic solo sets on the tour, featuring songs from her recent studio album 'Through The Woods' including the single 'Hollywood' (see video below).

"As last year's tour with Lionel Richie proved, she has an uncanny talent for making the most cavernous venue feel like a cozy coffee house" says Philippa's management company, Storm 5.

Prior to the Wet Wet Wet tour, Philippa will be co-headlining the Big Church Night In Tour with worship leader Stuart Townend, from 26th November to 7th December.
