Dove Awards 2013 Winners Announced, Matt Redman Wins 6 Awards
The winners of the 44th annual Gospel Music Association Dove Awards were announced last night, 15th October 2013, at Lipscomb University's Allen Arena in Nashville.
The biggest winner this year was Matt Redman, who followed up his double Grammy Award win earlier in the year with no fewer than six Dove Awards. In addition to receiving Songwriter of the Year, Matt's song '10,000 Reasons (Bless the Lord)' won Song of the Year, Praise & Worship Song of the Year, Pop / Contemporary Song of the Year and Contemporary Christian Performance of the Year.
Other big winners on the night included TobyMac who won Artist of the Year, plus Short Form Video of the Year and Pop/ Contemporary Album of the Year for 'Eye On It'. Lecrae won both Rap / Hip Hop Album of the Year and Rap / Hip Hop Song of the Year.
Elsewhere Chris Tomlin won Praise & Worship Album of the Year for 'Burning Lights', whilst 'Passion: Let The Future Begin' received Special Event Album of the Year and For King & Country earned New Artist of the Year.
After spending the last two years in Atlanta, the first time the awards ceremony has been held outside of Nashville, Christian music's biggest night returned to Music City this year.
Hosted by singers Amy Grant and Kirk Franklin, the Dove Awards ceremony included performances from Amy Grant, Newsboys and TobyMac, and will be broadcast on UP on 21st October 21.
