Texas based four piece band The Afters have just released their latest studio album Life Is Beautiful.

This new album comes more than two and a half years after the launch of 'Light Up The Sky' which gained many great reviews. The band are joined again by award-winning producer Dan Muckala (Backstreet Boys, Chris Tomlin, Britt Nicole) for eight of its 12 tracks.

"Our hope for our record - and a lot of heartache went into this album - is that it will encourage people to see how God is working in their lives," says vocalist-guitarist Josh Havens. "He's not just there on the sunny days. No matter what we go through in life, God is still with us and life is beautiful - God is beautiful."

The band draws on the modern pop/rock/dance sound that is very popular with bands at the moment. The obvious comparison would be with bands like Maroon 5 who seem to fuse together dance beats with pop/rock sounds so well. The Afters achieve this from the start with the catchy opening songs Every Good Thing and Breathe In Breathe Out.

The band have really moved with the times very well musically, and have tried to keep writing songs that are good enough to be in the mainstream charts.

It's always great hearing bands you love on your favorite TV shows, and there are many songs on this album that could easily fit in with popular American TV shows. The power ballad Moments Like This and touching song Find Your Way are perfect examples.

Lyrically this album might be more worshipful compared to other The Afters albums, with the Godly meaning of the songs seeming to be at the forefront. These songs have a great message, and in the past this might have been hidden within some clever lyrics, but not with this album.

With all the makings of a great modern pop/rock Christian album, the production on this album is brilliant, the songs are strong, and the sound is top notch. My only issue with this album is the fact that some of the songs don't have the intensity that I have come to known with The Afters, but this is a new sound and style. The band have tried to be more creative with their sound and tracks like Love Is In The Air show off the new sound brilliantly. A great step forward for this Texan band.
