Owl City Releases 'The Midsummer Station' & Performs On America's Got Talent Tonight

Aug 22 2012

Owl City has released new full-length studio album 'The Midsummer Station'. The album features a duet with Canadian pop starlet Carly Rae Jepsen on the song 'Good Time', and the duo will perform the song together live on America's Got Talent tonight, 22nd August, and NBC's Today show on 23rd August.

'The Midsummer Station' sees Owl City creator Adam Young collaborating with other artists for the first time, including Relient K lead singer Matthew Thiessen who co-wrote 'Good Time' with Young.

"I've never worked with anybody before," Young told Billboard Magazine. "I've done everything myself except for mastering. It's a big job for one guy, especially a perfectionist, so I knew I wanted to try to experiment with other people. It was new, and a little bit scary, but [ultimately] it was a good thing."

The new album also includes recent radio single 'Shooting Star', a track Young wrote with New York production team Stargate.

"With this record I feel like I can finally take a deep breath and listen without holding it in because I've finally figured out how to let the music play, let the music exist, to listen with a new frame of reference, and now that I can do that, I am floored - because I'm so unbelievably proud of what I'm hearing" the musician explains. "I've never made a record that gave me goosebumps because it made me feel, really feel something."

Owl City's 'The Midsummer Station World Tour' kicks off in the US on 5th September in Nashville, before coming to Europe in October with five UK dates. The tour visits the Forum in London on 25th October 2012, then Birmingham (26th), Glasgow (28th), Manchester (30th) and Oxford (31st).
