Phatfish Release 'Thirsty' Single To Help End Water Poverty

Mar 22 2012

British worship band Phatfish have released a new single today, 22nd March 2012, titled 'Thirsty', in aid of the Turn on the Tap initiative which aims to end water poverty. Released to coincide with World Water Day, fans can get the song in exchange for making a donation to the appeal, and the single will also be available on iTunes shortly.

"During our recent 'Higher Tour', we have had the privilege of working alongside Samaritans Purse in their endeavour to end water poverty through the initiative Turn on the Tap", says the band. "We've been struck by the scale of devastation that contaminated water brings and the relatively simple and practical ways that this situation can be tackled."

"Just £48 will provide safe water for a family for upwards of 15 years"
explains the Brighton-based group. "This is through the purchase of a Biosand water filter made from local materials. Samaritans Purse also build latrine blocks and wells that serve whole villages."

Proceeds from sales of the single will go to Samaritans Purse's work to provide people with access to clean water and sanitation in countries like Ethiopia, Liberia, Niger, Mozambique and Uganda.
