Phatfish Team Up With Samaritan's Purse For UK Higher Tour 2012

Jan 24 2012

British worship band Phatfish is joining with Samaritan's Purse, a Christian relief and development agency, on the second leg of their 'Higher Tour', which resumes in February 2012 following its first leg last year. Phatfish will be sharing with their audience the plight of almost 900 million people worldwide who do not have access to clean water in an effort to bring an end to water poverty.

"This tragedy was really brought home to us when we realised that, in the time taken to perform one of our songs 10-12 children will die from waterborne disease" said the group's lead singer Lou Fellingham. "This is a tragedy made all the worse by the fact that these deaths are avoidable, those children need not die."

Simon Barrington, Executive Director of Samaritan's Purse UK said, "We are excited to be working with Phatfish, and so encouraged by their desire to make a positive difference in the lives of people who are forced to drink water which harmful to their health, particularly children who are most at risk."

Phatfish continue their 'Higher Tour' in Worcester on 3rd February 2012 with eight dates currently confirmed before the the tour finishes in Southampton on 17th March. The group are promoting their latest album 'Higher', which was released in October 2011.

Samaritan's Purse UK has established a comprehensive water and sanitation programme through which boreholes are being drilled, and wells dug to find sources of clean water. BioSand Filters (BSFs) are also being provided to make dirty water safe to drink should it not be possible to find a source of clean water. Money for these programmes is raised through Samaritan Purse's Turn on the Tap campaign and it is this campaign that is being supported and promoted by Phatfish with free resources provided by Samaritan's Purse.
