Blog: Spring Harvest Band Blog

Apr 28 2009

I'm back from the world of Spring Harvest, I hope you didn't miss me too much. The Easter Festival is held over 3 weeks in Minehead and Skegness. It's a opportunity to hear great worship and teaching. There were loads of band's playing in the evening after hours. Every night around 10:30 for an hour there would be a few bands playing over in different venues. I went to a different gig every night to catch new bands and some well respected bands too. Here below is who I saw and what I thought of them and how you can maybe buy one of their albums.

DweebNight One - Dweeb

The week started off with the full rock sounding Dweeb, first time I had the honor of seeing the band live. Nice size crowd, and didn't disappoint with a well polished set.Click here to read album review To Buy their album click here.

Steve LeachNight Two - Steve Leach

Steve Leach is a DJ who mixes dance beats with some well know preachers sermons. An amazing new sound of worship which wouldn't be a miss in a club. Just a shame the venue wasn't as full as could have been. The sounded needed to be turned up cause I could have a conversation with my friends without having to shout. When you're listening to Dance music you need to be able to be emerged in the music. Click here to read album review

Cathy Burton

Night Three - Cathy Burton

I have seen Cathy Burton a few times over the years at different festivals but this gig seemed to let her talent down, she seemed nervous talking between songs. As always the songs are top quality and were a joy to listen to. To purchase her latest album Silvertown click here.

Tom + Olly
Night Four - Tom + Olly

The surprise new band of the week for me, Tom + Olly have a hint of the Streets in them. A gig full of energy and glow sticks. Brilliant songs and a great atmosphere that left you happy on your way home.

Night Five - PortlandPortland

Take one bass, one acoustic guitar, a male vocalist and a female vocalist and you have Portland, stripped back to basic, but what a sound. Very much like I was listening to Damien Rice, sadly they did a cover of The Ryan Adams version of Wonderwall which was originally written by Oasis(Ryan Adams Destroyed it,I will not hold that against them). To be fair I haven't stopped listening to the free album they gave away at the gig. I can't wait for the new album which is out soon.
