Nathan Jess Unveils New Song 'Be My Hope' With Video Shot In Africa
Northern Ireland singer/songwriter Nathan Jess has followed up his debut single 'I Am Redeemed', released last month, with the video for his latest song 'Be My Hope'. Described as sounding like David Gray, Damien Rice and Jeff Buckley, Nathan recently signed with Kingsway after the British-based label watched his successful support slot for Casting Crowns when the US band visited Belfast a year ago.
"Be My Hope works on many levels. As a carefully crafted song, it is disciplined, measured and powerful", says Kingsway. "But there's more to it than a near-perfect melody and poetic lyrics... take a look at the YouTube video and you'll see a whole other dimension bring the song to life."
Nathan wrote the song to illustrate the life of people in Uganda following a trip to Africa with a charity he supports. "I partner with a charity that works in East Africa called Fields of Life," says Nathan. "They mostly build schools and dig wells. I was there in May 2011 exploring their projects and filming the video of 'Be My Hope' - having recorded it with their children's choir. The song shows a similar model of poetic story telling in the verses with a simple chorus crying out for Jesus to be our only hope."
