Phatfish Discuss Forthcoming New Album 'Higher'

Sep 01 2011

Popular British worship band Phatfish have been talking about their forthcoming new studio album 'Higher', which is released on 17th October 2011. The band, fronted by singer Lou Fellingham, includes established songwriter Nathan Fellingham who shares the song writing on the newest album with most of the band.

"This latest collection from the Phat stable features songwriting from just about every member of the band. Stylistically we are in Rock/Pop territory but with these creative bunnies the toons can go anywhere and frequently do!" said the band. "There are tracks that could spin off tomorrow's DJs through to a reworked hymn from the 18th century. A futurist ballad and an RnB influenced semi-rap about Creation and Evolution. It's definitely not your standard worship album. Which is just how we like it."

Explaining the striking album artwork, the band said: "In the title track the message is 'Don't you know that you were made for something so much higher'. So the design team came up with a cage, where the bird has flown."

In addition to title track 'Higher', the album also includes a song based on the key facts from Genesis 1 v 1, 'In The Beginning', and a new version of the epic hymn Charles Wesley wrote at the time of his conversion, 'And Can It Be'. "Three centuries later Phatfish have breathed new life into this timeless classic and reworked it for contemporary worship".

To coincide with the release of the new album the band will kick off their 'Phatfish Higher Tour 2011' on 30th September in London. The tour continues throughout the autumn and into December with tickets on sale now from www.phatmusic.net/tickets.
