TobyMac & Michael Tait Reunited On Stage At BigChurchDayOut

May 31 2011

Former DC Talk band members TobyMac and Michael Tait were reunited on stage together last weekend during the UK's Big Church Day Out music festival. Michael Tait, now lead singer of the band Newsboys, welcomed TobyMac on to stage during Newsboys set for their final song, the DC Talk classic anthem 'Jesus Freak'. Reprising the song that DC Talk are most famous for, Michael and Toby looked instantly at ease with each other as they jumped and danced around the stage, often with arms around each other's shoulders.

Both Newsboys and TobyMac were on the mainstage lineup for the UK's biggest Christian event of the year, which drew crowds in excess of 15,000 over the weekend. Fans were clearly thrilled to witness a reunion of two-thirds of the original DC Talk lineup for 'Jesus Freak', a song that Newsboys also included on their recent 'Born Again' album featuring KJ-52 during the song's rap, but TobyMac took on the rapping duties live on stage at Big Church Day Out.

During Toby's own set, Michael also joined the singer and his band to sing another DC Talk song, 'In The Light'. DC Talk, a pop/rock trio which also included Kevin Max, have been on an indefinite hiatus since 2000. Since then all three former band members have had successful solo careers and in 2009 Michael Tait took over from Peter Furler as lead singer of Newsboys.
