Mercy Vineyard - The Lamb Has Conquered
Last modified: 23 Jul 2010

This album from
Mercy Vineyard church in Southampton pleasantly surprised me. It has a nice range of a few faster; toe-tapping rather than dancing-in-the-aisle beats, and the slower more thought provoking through to the melancholic tunes. The album has beautiful lyrics, at times these are swallowed up by the music, but the passion for Christ and the importance of His presence in our lives is evident.
'
Fall Upon Me' is by far my favourite track, I just love the tone of the male vocalist, it definitely falls into the faster category with a strong beat yet the sentiment of the lyrics remains strong and is something that we all identify with, that need to be filled afresh with God’s spirit.
'
Worthy Is The Lamb', again a faster track with a strong drum beat and beautiful emotive lyrics. '
The Lamb Has Conquered' has a fantastic intro, very poignant, it picks up pace, although I feel that it misses a trick in that it never fully achieves the power that you expect it to.
The only drawback with this album is that as mentioned some of the songs are rather too thought provoking, and by that I mean the music that sends you into a different time and place forcing you to revisit memories that you had hoped were long buried when the backs of your eyes start to prick; having spent a whole day listening to this album (I like to give them a fair shot and will leave it on the ipod so that whenever I'm home, that is the music) I started to wonder why I felt so emotional - sad even. A quick flick of the play list and my mood lightened.
