Louder Than The Music

New Jersey based Pop, CCM, and Folk-Rock artist Mike Geo, has released his new single 'Be Refined'. The song confronts the Christian stigma of mental health by shining a light on the dark parts of the Christian walk and the perception that comes with that. 'Be Refined' challenges the notion that mental health issues directly relate to the strength of your relationship with God.

'Be Refined' was born out of a period of intense grief after Geo lost two Grandparents and his wife experienced a miscarriage, over the span of a few months. The feeling of having to put on a brave face and suffer in silence, due to the expectations of not only being a Christian, but a Worship leader, inspired the lyric “sometimes church can feel so phony, like if you’re not happy you’re not holy”. Geo lands on the sentiment that God not only sees us through these seasons, but He uses our broken moments to refine us.

“I hope this song speaks to the person that is going through trials in their life, and feeling alone and isolated in it, so that they can be assured that they are not alone and that God has a plan for them to come out of this stronger. The goal is that this song can help change some of the stigmas that cause people to suffer in silence, and encourage people to speak up.” - Mike Geo

Geo set to produce the song to sound intimate and personal, by making the focus the vocal and acoustic guitar, with Pop elements in the beat.
