Joshua Luke Smith Releases Powerfully Vulnerable Single 'Silence' Feat. Kyra

May 30 2021

Releasing another carefully crafted piece of conscious work, Joshua Luke Smith shares his emotive single “Silence” this May 28th.

Unlike previous releases, “Silence” see’s Joshua Luke Smith peel back his signature skin of hard-hitting beats and textured production to unveil a raw, soulful offering. “Silence” gently traces themes of loneliness and solace, with Joshua speaking from personal experience, as the track gradually unpicks the threads that stitch together the inner workings of this burgeoning artist.

Featuring fellow emerging artist and fast-rising name in the tastemaker world, Kyra, the single interweaves Joshua Luke Smith’s insightful lyricism with the depth and sincerity in Kyra’s soulful tones. The result is an impassioned piece driving self-reflection and self-resolution.

Speaking more in depth about the meaning behind the track, Joshua explains;

“Silence was the song I didn’t want to write. It’s more of a confession then anything, an announcement of the inescapable aloneness that confronts me (and I think is all at one time or another). I’ve learnt the only way to find true solace is through silence, that until I face what is hidden most deeply within, healing and peace will remain unreachable. The words of the philosopher Blaise Pascal, ring out with such truth to me now...

“of all our greatest problems come from our inability to be alone with ourselves”.
