The Elms To Donate Song Proceeds To Haiti Relief Effort

Jan 19 2010

One week on from the earthquake in Haiti, US rock band The Elms are hoping to raise money for the relief effort by donating 100% of their income from future purchases of their song 'This Is How The World Will End'.

Close friend of the band Luke Renner, who is also a talented filmmaker, created a video for the song in 2008 using footage he had filmed in Haiti. In light of recent events in the country, the band felt the song could offer an opportunity to raise funds for the relief effort in Haiti.

Lead singer Owen Thomas said, "The Elms are a band with deep belief in destiny, and the decision to show this video at this time, following a crisis like the Haitian earthquake of January 12, 2010, was one that has been carefully considered for the last 72 hours. We desire only for the images in this video to offer you a direct look at the people of Haiti as our friend Luke has gotten to know them - they are beautiful, precious people, who we have a human responsibility to always - but now more than ever. Please watch the film, take these people into your heart, and give to them of your resources as soon as possible. We have worked with Luke to list organizations who are hands-on, as we speak, with relief efforts in Haiti. You can trust that they are reputable and sincere in their efforts.

For the foreseeable future, The Elms will be donating all proceeds from the digital sales (iTunes, Amazon, Rhapsody, and Napster) of the song 'This Is How The World Will End' to Haitian earthquake relief efforts, through CARE International and Luke Renner's Caribbean Institute Of Media Technologies. A track purchased equals direct support. Our band will derive ZERO personal revenue from the perpetuation and sales of 'This Is How The World Will End'.

This song is our offering, the best we can do, to help our brothers and sisters in Haiti during their darkest hour. And to our friend Luke (who as I write this is walking the streets of Port Au Prince doing all he can to serve), we love you and will see you soon."

Please visit theelms.net to watch the video, and then buy the song to help support the cause.
