We often get asked to review independent releases, and sadly as we receive so many we don't have time to review them all. But today we review the three track EP 'I Have Not Forgotten' from Andi Foster. This songwriter has decided to take the time to put down on to record his songs, and from listening to these three tracks, I can say this independent release has a lot going for it.

But today we review the three track EP 'I Have Not Forgotten' from Andi Foster. There is something very 80's about the title track 'I Have Not Forgotten'. The song has a pounding drum beat and some synth work that really gives the track a darker feel. There is a dramatic edge to the song, and this comes across in the vocals of Andi, he sings out with vigour and raw passion "Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah, I cry with everything within me...".
The bass tone in 'Fall On Me' are really very good, capturing the whole body of the song. This track features Sophia McCrea, who during this slower ballad adds her beautiful vocals. Andi and Sophia sound great together and I love the musical elements to this track. The song is a simple yet powerful cry, asking the spirit "Will You fall on me".
The final track of this EP is titled You Can Move Mountains (Acousticish Mix), which I presume means it's an acoustic version of the song. I'm not the biggest of fans of how the song starts, but once the drums and other instruments jump in I can see the potential in this song. There is a rhythmic, even poetic flow to this song, there is even a Celtic feel to it which I was surprised to hear, but actually it keeps to the whole feel and ambiance of the song.
It's always a worry when you get an independent releases as sometimes they're not the best quality, be that down to production or the songs themselves. But this collection of songs is one of the best quality releases we have had. Andi has a lot of potential and I can see why he wanted to get these songs down on record. Some of these songs have massive potential and show that Andi isn't just happy creating simple music. With his gutsy vocals you can see he has taken his time to craft these songs into the way he wanted them to sound, and that has to be commended. Hopefully there will be more to come from this songwriter.
