'Rely' is based on the simple concept that sometimes in life we cannot do everything on our own, even when we really try to, you need somewhere else there to help and guide you. Looking outward and trusting in somebody who can be there for us no matter what, regardless of how independent we are. This translates the question of who we as people can rely on unless we trust in God.
With a poignant theme, the video depicts this idea with beautiful footage of John’s son Jesse with his mother, adding an incredibly personal edge to the video.
With inspiration taken from the likes of Foy Vance and John Mayer, John’s songs are catchy, relatable, and envelope the listener through a web of textures he creates with his loop pedal. John’s previous releases ‘Runaway’ and ‘What Love Is’ have been playlisted across the UK on stations including: BBC Wales, UCB, and Premier Radio.
